Visita del Director Ejecutivo del PNUMA // A visit from the UNEP's Executive Director

El Director Ejecutivo del PNUMA – el Sr. Achim Steiner visitó la oficina regional del PNUMA en América Latina y el Caribe los días 19 y 20 de septiembre.
El Director tuvo dos acercamientos con el personal en ORPALC; el primero en un cóctel ofrecido en su honor y otra, en una reunión donde aprovechó para dialogar con todo el personal sobre algunos temas.
Además de discutir sobre las seis áreas de prioridad del PNUMA 2010 – 2013, el Director explicó la importancia de la movilización entre programas y oficinas; la unión entre los organismos que conforman el sistema de Naciones Unidas y la importancia de ser ejemplos reales en el tema ambiental – ser modelos íntegros.
El Director se mostró muy abierto a las preguntas realizadas por los oficiales de programas y tomó el tiempo suficiente para contestar a cada uno de ellos.
El Director Steiner estará visitando Chile y México. Este último país será el país sede para las actividades del día mundial del medio ambiente 2009.

The UNEP executive Director – Mr. Achim Steiner visited the UNEP Regional Office of Latin America and the Caribbean on the 19th and 20th of September. A cocktail was offered in his honor as well as a meeting where he took the opportunity to discuss with the local staff.
The director talked about the six UNEP different priority areas 2010 –2013, the importance of staff mobility within the different UN programmes and offices; and the value of being true role models for Environmental issues.
The Director showed to be very open to the questions asked by the program’s officers and took the time to answer each of them thoroughly.
Mr. Steiner will shortly visit Chile, as well as Mexico which will be the host for the World Environmental Day 2009.
